In February 2026 the School of Business’s taught postgraduate provision went through the University of Dundee’s Periodic Review. The outcome was re-approval for six years, to 2031/32, with ten commendations from the Review Board.
The outcome
6
years’ re-approval, to 2031/32
10
commendations from the Review Board
3
subject groupings reviewed
One review, three subject groupings
The review covered all three Business subject groupings: Accounting and Finance, Economic Studies, and Management and Marketing.
My role
Project Manager and Coordinator, 2025–26
I coordinated alongside review lead Nana Kufuor and Jennifer Forbes, working with School leadership, our QA leads and the University’s Quality and Academic Standards team. The Faculty Vice-Principal kindly acknowledged that shared coordination.
A periodic review asks a whole portfolio to explain itself: what each programme is for, how well it is working, what the evidence shows and where it is heading. My part was to keep the evidence, timelines and contributions moving across three subject groupings, and to contribute reflective analysis, quality evidence and the Marketing material myself.
What I would carry into any future review
01
Start with the evidence you already hold
Most of what a review needs already exists. The work is bringing it together and reading it honestly.
02
Coordination is a shared job
Three subject groupings bring three sets of priorities, and the review was stronger for drawing on all of them.
03
Reflection matters as much as compliance
The most useful sections are the ones where colleagues write candidly about what they want to improve.
Quality work continues
Quality work continues beyond the review:
- TQER: School of Business academic input to the University’s Tertiary Quality Enhancement Review workstreams.
- EQUIS: MBA evidence for the School’s business-school accreditation.
- Responsible management education: mapping our postgraduate provision against the UN Sustainable Development Goals and 18 QAA-benchmarked employability skills.
Thank you to everyone across the three subject groupings who contributed. Ten commendations reflect the teaching and support colleagues provide every day.
