2026: my third Biz-a-thon
Really looking forward to the NCR Biz-a-thon again this year. It’ll be my third time taking part, and it’s great to see the event continue to grow.
I’ll be delivering a workshop and joining the judging panel this year, and I’ve also designed the event poster again.
It’s always a great two days for bringing students, colleagues and industry together, sharing ideas and building connections. Thanks to Kirsty and everyone involved for creating such a positive space for collaboration each year.
It’s also the kind of work I really value around student experience, employability and industry engagement. It ties in closely with the wider work Kirsty and I are doing on employability and curriculum development, especially around creating more opportunities for students to apply their learning to real business challenges.

2025: the Biz-a-thon returns
The highly anticipated Biz-a-thon came back in October 2025, and I was excited to be invited by Kirsty Beaumont and Craig Reoch to design the poster.
The previous year’s Biz-a-thon, organised by Kirsty and Craig at UDSB together with the amazing NCR Atleos team, was such a success. It included hands-on optional workshops sparking fresh ideas, the buzz of pitching, prize giving, and a later site visit to the R&D Centre for our winning teams.
NCR Atleos is a global leader in financial technology with a strong track record of innovation and collaboration. They once again provided client briefs, guidance and support throughout the event, giving students an invaluable opportunity to work closely with industry experts.
Biz-a-thon is more than a competition. It builds teamwork, creativity and entrepreneurial skills that prepare students for success in their careers, whether in organisations or their own ventures.

2024: day one of the first Biz-a-thon
Day One of the Biz-a-thon: a hackathon for School of Business students, and an exciting collaboration between NCR Atleos and UDSB. NCR Atleos is the world’s largest ATM deployer and a leader in comprehensive ATM platform solutions. The event was brilliantly organised by Kirsty Beaumont, with Craig Reoch providing professional support in coordinating efforts.
Our students were given two briefs to develop creative ideas for, with prizes for the most innovative and impactful solutions. Big thanks to Maddie Wilson, Anas Smaali, Denise Corcoran, Mathew Galbraith and Sarah Hughes from NCR Atleos for the opening ceremony, briefing, workshop and support. Your insights and guidance set an inspiring tone for the day and added immense value for our students.
In my Marketing Strategy Workshop, specifically tailored to these briefs, we delved into branding and marketing communication strategies. Many thanks to our brilliant students for your amazing engagement and your wonderful feedback!
Shout out to Jude Hughes, Ashley Fitzgerald and James Downey from the University of Dundee Marketing Society for organising the fabulous dinner party for our Biz-a-thon participants!
