During the REF impact discussion session at the University of Dundee School of Business, Dr Seemab Farooqi and I presented our impact case study-in-development on disability inclusion in higher education.
Our case is based on the British Council–funded Disability Inclusion Project, developed in collaboration with colleagues at NUST in Pakistan. It focuses on co-designing digital and pedagogical accessibility frameworks, grounded in UK-led research and inclusive practice. The project reflects our commitment to real-world change. Our goal is to influence institutional policy. We also aim to enhance staff development and embed inclusive teaching practices across partner contexts and beyond. These efforts are designed to drive tangible behavioural and organisational change that disabled people urgently need.
We were especially inspired by Professor Susan Kinnear’s insightful presentation on her impactful project exploring the reliability, transparency, and policy implications of international English language testing systems during and beyond the pandemic.
We are thankful for the valuable feedback shared, and proud to contribute to the wider conversation about inclusive, ethical, and impactful research: research that drives measurable change in policy, practice, and people’s lives.
